How Botnexio products work: they are not hosted bots but source code you run yourself.

  • Your bot, your server: you run the bot yourself – on your own server or with a host of your choice – under your own bot account.
  • Adapt it within the licence terms. The standard licence for paid products covers personal, non-commercial use only.
  • You buy paid products once; server or hosting may cost extra on an ongoing basis.
  • You need some setup experience, e.g. with Node.js.
  • The free Welcome Bot Mini is MIT-licensed.

How we selected (criteria and weighting)

Each bot can get up to 100 points from 7 criteria. Every point needs a public source from the provider (website, docs, price page or code repository), with URL and check date. Nothing is estimated. 0 points means we found no public information from the provider, not that the feature is missing. Such entries show "not documented".

CriterionMaximum points (weight)How we measurePartial points
Features25 points (25 %)Fixed 8-item checklist for this category: items documented by the provider ÷ 8 × 25.Yes: 25 ÷ 8 = 3.125 points per checklist item documented by the provider; 8 of 8 = full points for the criterion, 0 documented = 0.
Free tier20 points (20 %)Checklist items the provider documents as usable without payment ÷ 8 × 20.Yes: 20 ÷ 8 = 2.5 points per checklist item the provider documents as usable without payment; 8 of 8 = full points for the criterion, none = 0.
Price15 points (15 %)Lowest regular premium price for 1 server and 12 months, as the provider shows it ("according to provider"). Other currencies converted at the ECB reference rate of 16.10. One-time payments are spread over 24 months. 15 × (1 − price ÷ highest verified price in this category). No paid plan = 15. No 1-server plan: smallest plan, with a note (e.g. "applies to 3 servers").Yes, on a sliding scale by the formula: no paid plan = full points for the criterion; price equal to the highest verified price in this category = 0; price not verified = 0.
Data & permissions transparency15 points (15 %)Privacy policy linked: 4. Data retention or a deletion/access route documented: 4. Default invite without the Administrator permission (permissions value in the invite URL, or the docs): 5. Privileged intents in use documented: 2. For self-hosted bots, we score the permissions named in the documentation. This is not a legal assessment of data protection compliance.Yes, sum of four sub-points: privacy policy 4 + retention or deletion/access route 4 + no Administrator in the default invite 5 + privileged intents 2 = full points for the criterion. Per sub-point: met = the points named, not met or not documented = 0 (Administrator requested or no public invite = 0 of the 5).
Open source10 points (10 %)Licence file in the provider's public repository: OSI licence = 10. Source-available licence = 5. Public code without a licence = 2. No public code = 0.Yes, in steps: OSI licence = full points for the criterion, source-available licence = 5, public code without a licence = 2, no public code = 0.
Activity10 points (10 %)Date of the most recent dated update (changelog, blog post, release or commit): ≤ 30 days = 10, ≤ 90 days = 7, ≤ 365 days = 4, older or no visible date = 0. Shown as a date only.Yes, in steps: ≤ 30 days = full points for the criterion, ≤ 90 days = 7, ≤ 365 days = 4, older or no visible date = 0.
Docs & support5 points (5 %)Public docs = 2. Public support server or contact = 2. Status page = 1.Yes, sum of three sub-points: public docs 2 + public support server or contact 2 + status page 1 = full points for the criterion. Per sub-point: met = the points named, not met or not documented = 0.
Total100 points

Checklist for this page (Welcome/Onboarding): text welcome, image welcome, leave message, auto-role, verification, DM welcome, onboarding buttons, variables.

Not scored: popularity / server counts (shown as "Provider's figure, as of 17.10., not verified and not scored", with a source link); German support (info column).

Price not verified: only if the provider shows no price on its own site. The entry then shows "Price not verified (as of 17.10.2026)" and gets 0 points for price; it stays in the list. Introductory and time-limited offers are not used.

Price basis: cheapest regular yearly cost of the cheapest paid server plan (yearly plan if offered, otherwise 12 × monthly; one-time plans spread over 24 months; no sale prices).

Ties are sorted alphabetically. We check prices and details regularly. The date at the top is the date of the last check. Information is based on the providers' public information, as of the date above.

FAQ

Which permission does a welcome bot need?

To react to new members a bot needs the Server Members intent (GUILD_MEMBERS) and the right to send messages in the welcome channel. For auto-roles it also needs Manage Roles. The table shows whether a bot's default invite requests Administrator.

How is the list ordered?

By up to 100 points from 7 criteria: features 25, free tier 20, price 15, data & permissions transparency 15, open source 10, activity 10, docs & support 5. Each point needs a public source from the provider. 0 points means we found no public information from the provider, not that the feature is missing. Ties are sorted alphabetically. Details are in the criteria box.

Are Botnexio products in the list?

No. Botnexio products are not part of the list. Where they fit, they appear below it under 'Our alternative', marked 'Botnexio product'.

What does 'Price not verified' mean?

We found no price on the provider's own site. The entry stays in the list and gets 0 points for price. Prices we show are as the provider shows them; other currencies are converted at the ECB reference rate of the date given.

How often is this page updated?

We check prices and details regularly. The date at the top is the date of the last check.
