Frequently asked questions

Can a webhook post a welcome automatically when someone joins?

No. A webhook only posts when you send it. For a message on every join you need a bot that listens for new members (Server Members intent). The Discord Welcome Bot Mini is a free, open-source (MIT) bot you host yourself.

Which placeholders can I use?

{user}, {username}, {server} and {memberCount}. The preview fills them with example values; the JSON keeps them unchanged for your bot. In the Discord Welcome Bot Mini, {user}, {username}, {server} and {memberCount} work in the welcome title and message.

What should a welcome message include?

A short greeting, where the rules are, how to get roles or start, and where to ask questions. Keep it short enough to read in a few seconds.

Can I send a test message first?

Yes. Under 'Send to webhook' you can replace the placeholders with the example values for the test. In Discord open the channel settings › Integrations › Webhooks, create a webhook and copy its URL.

Is it the same tool as the embed generator?

Yes. This page opens the same generator in Welcome mode. You can switch between Embed and Welcome at any time.

Does Botnexio see my input?

The generator runs entirely in your browser. Your input is not sent to us. It is only stored if you click 'Save draft in this browser', and then only in your browser. Analytics captures no content and sets no cookies; it only counts page views and successful actions (e.g. "JSON copied") as daily totals. With Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, we count nothing. Details are in the privacy policy.
